how did you attract/address your audience?
We attracted the audience by including things that the specific age range and gender would be interested in and what they would like. We made all the victims female as the male audience will be touched by how the women are being tortured as female characters are stereotypically considered to be more vulnerable.
Use of bricolage would interest our post-modern audience as the combination of real life torture and biblical pictures uses the idea that the killer was a psychopath which makes him more threatening as he has a motive.
Violence towards women is a classic horror theme that would attract our audience as it would disgust the viewers. They would realise that things like this can happen to women in real life and therefore instantly feel more sorry for them than they would males and females have a slim chance of fighting back and winning. This is why we used females as the victims as it appeals to our target audience.
Using attractive women would target males as they would sympathise for them as they're stereotypically weak and vulnerable. In some of the oldest horrors such as the first 'King Kong' and the 'Creature From the Black Lagoon' use attractive females for their victims. This is so the audience feel as though they want them to be saved for their beauty. In modern movies, these women are tortured, ostracised, and victimised - often running around vulnerable and half naked. In most horror movies where the killer is crazy or a psychopath they kill women because they're sexually experienced. To use actors which are attractive increases the suggestion that they're sexually experience and gives them a lesser chance of surviving.
